The Hydrodynamic Branch [Department] specializes in the study of high-speed movement of bodies over water surface, under the water surface, as well as close to the boundary of the mediums.

• Tests of the hydrodynamic configuration optimization of the lines, perfection of the local [areal] hydrodynamics of the sea-based planes
• Tests of the configuration and outlines of high-speed planes with dynamic support principles
• Hydrodynamics and dynamics of high-speed underwater subjects
• Research on aerospace subjects undergoing force-landing on water
• Tests of the configuration and air-cushioned chassis elements for the aircraft of off-aerodrome location and ground-based off-road transports
• Live hydrodynamic and nautical amphibious planes and ground-based amphibious transport tests at the water aerodrome Dubna
