9th TsAGI – ONERA Research Seminar

The 9th Franco-Russian research seminar under the title “TsAGI and ONERA Perspective Aviation Investigations” will take place in the town of Gelendzhik in Russia on the 10—11th of September 2010, within the International Hydroaviation Show-2010.

The seminar includes the following topical sections: unsteady aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, computer-aided modeling for calculation and design of airframe load-bearing structural components, flight control and research of corrosion-resistance and of materials mechanical properties.

Within the seminar the leading researchers of ONERA and TsAGI will make presentations covering the perspective trends in aeronautical science and engineering. About 12 reports on behalf of each party are expected to be presented. The Russian delegation is led by Dr. Sergey Chernyshev, Executive Director of TsAGI. Mr. Denis Maugars, ONERA’s chairman and CEO, is at the head of the French delegation.

The Franco-Russian seminar contributes to enhancing relations between two major aeronautical research centers. The transfer of information on fundamental and applied research in all areas associated with aerospace is not limited by the seminar once per two years. TsAGI and ONERA collaborate in 6FP and 7FP Projects. HISAC, NACRE and DREAM projects are the primary ones. More over, the specialists of these research centers share knowledge and experience in the course of international conferences, symposia and business missions.

As Sergey Lyapunov, Deputy Director General, Head of the Aerodynamics and Flight Dynamics Department, said: “The joint cooperation of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Prof. N.E. Zhukovsky and of the Office National d’études et de Recherches Aérospatiales is a highlight pattern of enhancing and strengthening international scientific relations. The transfer of fundamental knowledge and the shared interest in research experiment progress create incentives for new research activities and innovative technology promotion.”
