МС-21-200 aircraft prototype undergoes testing in transonic tunnel at TsAGI

15 December 2015

November 2015. An МС-21-200 aircraft prototype underwent testing at the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI). All tests were done in a transonic wind tunnel.

„The study proved a high level of aerodynamic quality of the МС-21-200 aircraft,” concluded Sergey Skomorokhov, Deputy Chief at TsAGI’s Aircraft and Rocket Aerodynamics Department.

Compared to the МС-21-300, the МС-21-200 has a shorter body, a smaller aircraft mass and a reduced passenger capacity. The smaller aircraft is optimized for airlines with lower passenger traffic or with expected significant changes in passengers over time.

The new medium-range aircraft family МС-21 is being developed by the PJSC Irkut Corporation.
