TsAGI at “Aerodays 2015” Conference in London
17 November 2015
At the end of October TsAGI’s scientists took part in the 7th European Aviation Conference “Aerodays 2015” which was held in London. The specialists of the Institute participated in this event as part of a delegation consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, CIAM and GosNIIAS, as well as the Russian Trade Representation in the UK.
Sergey Chernyshev, Director General of TsAGI, noted: “‘Aerodays’ is an effective platform to discuss the events that occur in the world of international aviation science. The Conference summed up the implementation results of projects of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union, some of which involved TsAGI’s participation. As a result of this meeting, now we understand the general status of the European aviation research market.”
At this Conference the specialists of the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky made their presentations and discussed with their European colleagues the promising development directions of aviation, which will form the basis of projects of the 8th Framework Programme — “Horizon 2020.” In particular, they talked about the projects in the field of pro-composite constructions, as well as about studying the effects of sonic boom from a supersonic passenger aircraft.
An important achievement of “Aerodays 2015” is the agreement to expand the integration of TsAGI and other national research centers into the European Research Area. The negotiations between Sergey Chernyshev and Eric Dautriat, Executive Director of the Clean Sky 2 Program which is aimed at further reduction of exhaust emissions and noise impact of air transport, the possibility of the participation of the Russian Aviation Science Center in this Program was discussed.
“Aerodays” Conference is a milestone event in the field of aeronautical research and innovations in Europe, which helps to sum up the results of the Framework Programmes and form the base for the further development of European aviation science and technologies. The aim of this Conference is to share the achievements of joint research and innovations in the field of aeronautics and air transport in Europe within the frameworks of international cooperation.
