Prizes awarded to the laureates of competition n.a. prof. N.E. Zhukovsky

December 18, 2010 the traditional Readings n.a. prof. N.E. Zhukovsky on the occasion of naming the winners of the Prize-2009 for the competition n.a. prof. N.E. Zhukovsky was held in the scientific and memorial museum of Zhukovsky. As a rule this prize is awarded for scientific activities in mathematics and mechanics, as well as for publications of a pedagogic nature on fundamental aerodynamics.

The jury presided over by V.G. Dmitriev adjudged two Prizes of the First Class, medals and diplomas to A.I. Belskikh, I.S. Seleznev, A.K. Trifonov and M.N. Mirgazov (Gold medal) for the article "On aerodynamics of supersonic ram-jet rockets," and to M.A. Golovkin (Gold medal), V.A. Golovkin and V.M. Kalyavkin for the article "On vortical hydromechanics".

The Prize of the Third Class was awarded to a group of experts from MAI notably to Yu.A. Rzhavin (Bronze medal), O.N. Emin and V.N. Karassev for the "Aircraft engine impeller machine" manual.

S.L. Chernyshev, Executive Director of TsAGI, V.G. Dmitriev and A.P. Krassilshchikov, Director of the Zhukovsky Museum, took part in the awards ceremony. Distinguished scientists from TsAGI and other aeronautical organizations participated in the commencement meeting.

The competition, established on December 2, 1920 under the order of the Soviet Government to mark the 50^th anniversary of scientific activity of N.E. Zhukovsky, was held for the 60^th time. There was no competition from 1925 to 1940. Since 1940 TsAGI has been responsible for the competition and awarding the prize money.
